Tidal Marsh
Ninety minute low intensity kayaking exploration of the tidal marsh on the Quinnipiac River. We paddle across the river, into the Quinnipiac Meadows/Fargeorge Nature Preserve, tucking our kayaks into the phragmites grasses, and seeking out wildlife.
No experience necessary - basic instruction provided.
Please inquire by email if you hope to bring anyone under age 12.
• Hat & closed toe footwear recommended
• Sunglasses, sunscreen & insect repellent should all be strongly considered
• Each paddler should bring their own water bottle and consider a small snack
Other details: Meet at the Dover Beach boat ramp, Front St, New Haven.

Eagle's Nest
Adults only - a medium to medium-plus intensity, 5.5-mile downstream kayak paddle on the Quinnipiac River, navigating a mix of narrow and wider canals and river sections. Over the course of 3-hours we'll keep our eyes peeled for all kinds of wildlife, like crabs and schools of fish, as well as great blue herons, great egrets, osprey and kingfishers. The big prize would be spotting eagle activity - we know where the nest is!
We can't guarantee seeing any of the above-mentioned wildlife, but the beauty and vastness of this downstream, tide-assisted paddle is wonderful on its own - all of which takes place within 5 miles of downtown New Haven.
NOTE: Participants should either be experienced kayakers or paddlers, or in good shape. We don't paddle fast, but the slower paddlers should be prepared to work a bit harder in order not to slow down the group. For example, we'll paddle for about 45 minutes of every hour, so you should be prepared to paddle continuously for 15 minutes, followed by 5 minute breaks.
• Hat & closed toe footwear REQUIRED
• Sunglasses, sunscreen & insect repellent should all be strongly considered
• Each paddler should bring their own water bottle and consider a small snack, but we will supply additional energy bars & water
Other details: Meet at the Dover Beach boat ramp, Front St, New Haven.
